Florida Keys

On one of my stretches off in February we thought we would take the dogs and go to Key Largo. I did some "google-ing" and found John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo. So we packed a lunch and the dogs and headed out. Key Largo is only about an hour to hour and half from Tamarac. John Pennekamp park offers glass bottom boat tours, kayaking and snorkeling. But since we had the dogs all that was out. We got to enjoy a nice picnic and walked around a portion of the park.

After lunch we decided to keep driving south on Hwy 1 and before we knew it we were in Key West! That was not our original plan for the day but we are glad we did it.

We found the Southernmost point of the US. However, the was a line to take a picture. And the dogs were not up to standing in line so we snapped this quick picture while the next person in line was getting ready. Just a shot to show we were really there!

The day ended with us getting to watch the sunset over Key West. Perfect ending!
Now we needed to get back home before the dogs decided to eat us for dinner!

Finally a trip home

In January we finally got a chance to go home. We planned to see a lot of our family during our week home so it was a busy week. The best part was having Christmas with the girls and one boy!

Our week was short but we managed to see the immediate family. We needed to return to Tamarac to rest after our traveling visit home. Plus we needed to warm up! Florida in the winter sure is the ticket!! Time to start contract #2.
